University Senate Welcomes New Members with Service and Connection
The University Senate kicked off the academic year by welcoming new and returning members for an introduction and orientation meeting focused on community, collaboration, and service.
The meeting was especially noteworthy as it opened with remarks from Emory's new University President on his first day in office, offering members an opportunity to hear directly about his vision for the university and the year ahead.
As part of the gathering, Senate members participated in a community service project, assembling sandwiches for local outreach efforts. The project provided an opportunity for members to work together while supporting neighbors in the greater Atlanta community.
The event also introduced members to the Senate's leadership team and highlighted the important role the Senate plays in shared governance across the university. New members had the opportunity to meet colleagues from across Emory, learn about Senate initiatives, and begin building connections that will support the work ahead.
